A Custom Surf Van Built for Adventure
Ben, from Shoreham, West Sussex, came to see us about his brand new Transporter T6.1 Sportline Black Edition. He asked us to help achieve his goal of owning a comfortable and luxury sport-van he could take to beach for wind-surfing – with seats that could fold out to make a bed – and ISOFIX to clip in a baby car seat. Ben wanted to match the new interior additions with the very high-end finish of this special edition transporter.

L’Artisane (our in-house upholsterer) stripped back the original Rib Beds and used full-grain Nappa leather for the outer panels with Alcantara for the seat centres.
The centre panels were custom stitched with a hexagonal pattern to match the Sportline front seats.
Finally, the seats are finished off with red French seam.
Marine (from L’Artisane) said “The biggest challenge was sewing the hexagonal shapes into the seat centres – this was a painstaking process taking hours at the sewing machine…. 6 stitches across, turn 45 degrees, 4 down… repeat!”
