Team trip to the NEC – Motorhome & Caravan Show 2024
Research and development is really important at Out And About – we pride ourselves on building campers that stand out in the sector.
So, on a very grey October Wednesday, four of our team headed up to Birmingham to check out the Caravan & Motorhome Show at the NEC.
Theo (Sales), Josh (Production), George (Woodwork) and Pat (Marketing) brought a range of skills and questions with them. We wanted to look at other campervan conversion companies, the cool suppliers making parts and accessories and find out a bit about what’s making customers excited.
Here’s a few things that stood out to us on the day!
Off-road rigs look amazing!
We loved the builds from several converters that looked rugged enough to survive the zombie apocalypse! Inside, lots of them were still very luxurious and had clever accessories and storage. They really inspire a sense of adventure.
Campervans on the rise
We love our Volkswagen Transporters, Ford Transits and Volkswagen Crafters because we think they strike the perfect balance: enough space for a comfy night and the ease-of-driving needed for country lanes and city streets!
Others seem to think so too, there seem to be more campers at the show every time we return!
Lighting is getting really clever
Lots of builds – including the motorhomes and caravans – are incorporating clever atmospheric lighting.
We’ve been incorporating LED recessed spotlights and feature lights in our kitchens since before we started the Atlas and Alpine design. Some of the lighting suppliers are making really interesting new designs.
The community is really strong
The Caravan & Motorhome Club and Camping & Caravanning Club both had lovely stands with cafes and shows for their members. Many of our customers are members of one or both clubs. It’s great to see that the clubs provide such great support.
We had a really great day (apart from some traffic!) and, whisper it, we’ll be showing our vans at the NEC show in February! Watch this space!
